REVIEW: Kiss Me With Lies By S.M. Soto

December 9, 2019

Two sisters. One unsolved murder. A sickening plot for revenge.

When Mackenzie Wright attends her first real high school party, held somewhere deep in the woods of her small California town, no one expects to wake up the next morning to news of a gruesome murder. Especially not her own sister’s.

No suspects.

No motive.

No convictions.

Just one unsolved murder and whatever’s left of the now deserted town.

Mackenzie has spent years with her sister’s death weighing heavily on her shoulders, but it isn’t until she stumbles across a photograph that changes everything for her. The memories, everything from that night, come flashing back in high-speed technicolor and Mackenzie soon finds herself obsessed with the truth.

Determined to find out what really happened to her sister, Mackenzie relies on that one photograph to give her the answers she needs by embedding herself into the lives of five of the wealthiest men in Los Angeles. Consumed by her need for revenge, Mackenzie infiltrates the world of the rich and elite, only to come face-to-face with an alluring complication in the form an elusive playboy.

When enemy lines are drawn, Mackenzie has to choose between her loyalty to her sister and the man who has stolen her heart.

I'm completely and utterly captivated by this book and so blown away by this incredibly unique storyline. The chemistry and the angst in this book was overwhelming in the most perfect way.

Kiss Me With Lies is the first book in the Twin Lies Duet. Written in Dual POV through the eyes of Mackenzie Wright and Baz King, this book had everything you want in a Romantic Suspense book. Intrigue, deception, revenge, chemistry and so many levels of angst!

Mackenzie Wright is a damaged girl. Losing her twin sister, Madison, as a teenager had a huge effect on how she continued to live or not live her life. Mackenzie is lost, she doesn't know who she truly is and is consumed with thoughts of her sister and what happened to her. Mackenzie was one of those characters that you root for but at the same time want to curse and scream at for the decisions she makes. She was so intelligent but completely obsessed with getting answers which at times clouded her judgement.

Baz King was an enigma and I was instantly captivated by him. He's an alpha male through and through, closed off, possessive and the dirty talk! Gah! I couldn't get enough of Baz King! He was the perfect combination of all the things I love in a male lead. The chemistry between Baz and Mackenzie was explosive, they were combustable and the deception between them was captivating.

From the minute I read the blurb, I knew Kiss Me With Lies was going to be consuming and unputdownable. I went in blind, I didn't read teasers, I avoided all reviews and I'm so glad I did! I couldn't keep my eyes off the pages, I was desperate to get to the end thinking I would finally get some answers to the hundreds of questions that were scrolling through my mind. The storyline of Kiss Me With Lies was so much more than I could have imagined, it was so different to anything I've read. I was completely and utterly consumed by this storyline and these characters and I am DESPERATE for Bury Me With Lies!
