REVIEW: It Wasn't Me by Lani Lynn Vale
Piper Mackenzie first sees him shirtless, standing in front of the military plane she was about to board, with one rather large wrench in his hand. The fact that he has the plane—the one that she’s about to be flying on for hours—in pieces only minutes before she’s set to take off on it doesn’t faze her. At least not until a flippant joke about dying in mid-air leaves his lips.
The second time she sees him, he’s helping her from the wreckage of her car. The wreckage that he helped cause.
The third, he’s laying across from her in the same bed, and there’s no denying what happened the night before.
The fourth, well that time would be the first of many. Being Mrs. Jonah Crew has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?
Jonah Crew saw her for the first time as she stared at him in awe. It was snowing, the temp was in the negative degrees, and he couldn’t think about anything but her and the look of horror on her face when he tells a badly-timed joke.
The second time he sees her, his heart skips a beat, but not for the reason that one might think. Mainly, it’s due in part to the fact that his truck smashed into her car so hard that his chest hits the steering wheel and his heart decides to stop working right.
The third time, he’s fairly positive that he’s died and gone to heaven. At least, that’s what waking up next to a beautiful woman like her signifies, right?
The fourth? Well, he’s not quite sure how he got there, but he’s already said ‘I do’ so what’s a guy to do?

Jonah Crew is an A$$hole. Or is he?
I’ve only recently found Lani Lynn Vale’s writing and I’m totally loving getting into the KPD Motorcycle Patrol world. Quirky and strong girls, stubborn alpha boys and a little bit of insta love thrown in.
It Wasn’t Me was the 2nd book in the KPD Motorcycle Patrol world so we’d already met Jonah going into this as he was a secondary character in Hide Your Crazy. I thought I knew who Jonah was, I thought he was going to be the tortured stubborn hero who wasn’t interested in love and had a problem with the everyone and everything, but I was totally wrong.
Everyone says that Jonah’s an a$$hole but he’s really not. He’s sweet and caring and dedicated to those he cares about, he loves animals and motorcycles and when he finds the girl he wants, he loves her hard with every piece of his heart. He’s also stubborn, an alpha male through and through and hides behind this a$$hole façade which is really Jonah just calling it how it is.
Piper was a new introduction to this series. She’s totally adorable and a complete romantic at heart. She knows her worth and isn’t about to waste her time on a man who doesn’t deserve it!
Jonah and Piper’s entire relationship is built on serendipitous moments from the very beginning. It’s one moment of coincide after the other that pulls them together. Jonah and Piper are the definition of a great couple, they bring out the absolute best in each other. There’s no confusion at any time, they both knew where the other stood and wanted the same things in life. It was refreshing to read a romance like this!
The other thing I love about LLV books is the unexpected, her storylines keeps me guessing and the action is addictive!
It Wasn’t Me was a palette cleanser and the perfect type of book I needed to be reading when everything else I’d read recently was overwhelming full of angst. As a lover of angst, I tend to avoid anything that doesn’t have it, but this was the perfect level of suspense, insta love, alpha hero, quirky heroine and action.
I can’t wait to meet Oakley and see more of Pace in I’d Rather Not, the next in the series coming in August!
