REVIEW: The Trouble With Love by Claire Contreras

May 18, 2019

Things on my wishlist:

1. Start a new, awesome job

2. Create the perfect dating app

3. Stop dating douchebags

Things that actually happen:

1. Got a job in my dream tech company

2. Created a workplace dating app for said company

3. Was matched Bennett, who happens to own the company and is also my brother’s best friend

They say when it rains, it pours, but this is some serious BS. It doesn’t help that Bennett was the man I had my one last night stand with. It definitely doesn’t help that he seems to want me just as much as I want him. The issue is, he won’t do anything about it, but then we’re forced to attend a tech conference in Vegas and I think it may just be what I need to turn this thing around.

New goal: get my brother’s best friend out of my system by all means necessary.

The Trouble With Love was brothers best friend perfection! I absolutely adored this book as I do every Claire Contreras book that I dive into. Her writing style is one that I always find myself immediately sucked into and captivated by. Claire Contreras knows the words to my heart and gets me right in the feels with every book she writes.

The Trouble With Love is the story of Bennett and Morgan and how there lives are intertwined without every really realising it. There meet cute is out of the ordinary and fits in perfectly with who they think they are at this point in there lives.

Brought together by random circumstances a year later, Bennett and Morgan are thrown together at the company that Bennet owns where Morgan gets to live out her dream job. The banter and sexual chemistry that ensues through this story is what kept me hooked, Bennet and Morgan bring out the best in each other and are beyond entertaining with everything that happens between them.

“Sorry you had to witness me being such a girl.”

“Don’t do that,” he says. “Don’t use your femininity as a crutch for your emotions.”

“You’re right. Women are stronger than that.” I nod. “I’m sorry you had to witness me being such a guy.”

He smiles.

One thing that I always love about a Claire Contreras book are her complex, yet developed characters. Her characters are always deep and intelligent and Bennet and Morgan were no different. I loved Morgan's take on love and how she essentially wanted to be cupid while still having trouble believing in love herself. And both Morgan and Bennet were incredibly intelligent and passionate about technology and the business they were part of. I found the app building incredibly interesting and loved this different aspect of the book.

“And now you’re hoping in taking away the veil and having people feel like they can be honest with each other, they’ll have a higher chance of finding love?”

“I just don’t see why it’s not something that can happen for everyone.”

“It’ll happen for you,” he says.

“Careful, Trouble. You don’t want me to think you’re going soft.”

He winks. “I’m hard where it matters.”

That makes me laugh loudly. This guy.

I also loved how this book was connected to The Consequence of Falling and we got a little bit of Presley and Nathaniel who we met in the previous book. I can't wait to see what Claire Contreras is bringing us next!
