REVIEW: Nova by Rebecca Yarros
The only heart he wants is the one he already broke...
He's Landon Rhodes. The Renegade they call Nova. Sinfully gorgeous, broody, tatted-up, professional snowboarder. Four-time X Games medalist— Full-time heartbreaker. They say a girl broke him once— That's why he's so reckless, so driven, so careless with his conquests. But I'm that girl. They can call me his curse all they want. He and I both know the truth— He's the one who destroyed me, And I'm not the sucker who will let that happen again.
Nova is the follow up to Wilder in the Renegades Series and follows the life of Landon AKA Nova AKA Casanova and Rachel Dawson, Leah's Best Friend. The Renegades are still on the Athena travelling the world, pulling stunts everywhere they can and studying for college. Wilder ended with Leah finding out the lengths that Pax had gone to, to fix one of his biggest regrets in life and Nova picks up almost straight away.
Landon has no idea that the girl who's heart he broke 3 years ago and who broke his without even knowing has ended up on the Athena and appears when he least expects it.
Rebecca Yarros has put me in a really awkward position after reading Nova. I can't choose who I love more, Pax or Landon!
Nova has everything I love in a second chance romance. Copious amounts of sexual tension and angst, broken hearts, complicated histories, a scorned ex and a totally tangled web of lies.
Nova was EVERYTHING. I fell in love with Rebecca's writing all over again from the very first page! I was completely blown away by the storyline and the direction that Rebecca took when writing this.
He had a kind of magnetism that changed the entire atmosphere around him, and I was drawn to him just like before, no different than every other girl on this damn ship. The chemistry between us I could handle, but these memories sucked.
The chemistry between Landon and Rachel is intoxicating and infuriating. The moment I started reading Nova I couldn't put it down. Rebecca's writing is incredible and speaks directly to my heart and soul, she creates the most complex characters and storylines that keep me captivated from beginning to end. There were so many twists and turns in Nova that I never saw coming and thats one of the very reason's that I absolutely love her writing.
And no one writes a kiss the way Rebecca does! Her Kiss scenes leave me breathless and completely satisfied yet begging for more at the same time! I've never read such incredible kisses! They make my heart melt and I'm physically sighing through the entire scene.
There were so many amazing scenes with Landon, Rachel and other secondary characters who I've completely fallen for and I'm sure I highlighted half the book! I could spend hours upon hours reading every single word she's ever written over and over again. The moment I finished Nova I scrolled back through all my highlights to read my favourite scenes!
There were so many poetic and passionate quotes from various characters and I struggled to pick which one's to use so here's just a few of my favourites <3
My life had been full of moments that burrowed into my soul, the memories crisp and detailed—the smell of the snow as I won X Games medals, the rush of wind skydiving over Madagascar, the taste of her lips the first time I’d ever kissed Rachel. This…sitting next to her halfway across the world as she took pictures, her hair falling from its tie, a smile playing at her lips, the warm morning sun shining through the top, even the music coming through the radio, all imprinted on my memory, and I knew I’d replay it often. This was what I’d always thought we’d be. Seeing the world together, laughing, fighting, making up, pulling stunts—it was everything we’d talked about, and what I knew we were really meant for. Hell, sitting next to her, even knowing she’d rather toss me from this Jeep than let me kiss her, was more fulfilling than the last half a dozen girls I’d taken to bed. I just had to find a way to break down her walls somehow and see if there was any part of her heart that could still feel something besides hatred for me. Because I was still fucking wild over her.
You’re like a supernova—an explosion so bright no one can see past you, I’d told him once after he’d won a competition. But like my love, that name had been twisted into something entirely different. Now he was Casanova…and no longer mine.
“I’ve thought a lot the last couple days, and if I had the chance to talk to the person who hurt me? The person I loved most in the world? I’d take it. Because all the pain in the world would be worth it for just the tiniest bit of understanding.”
After reading Nova I am SO DESPERATE for Penna's book! She is one of my absolutely favourite heroines ever and I've loved her from the very beginning and I just know her story is going to be phenomenal!
I'm also kinda hoping that we're going to get Zoe's story! You just know it would be so full of crazy and drama! So if you read this Rebecca, my fingers and toes are crossed for Zoe's story!! #TeamZoe <3
Meet the Author: Rebecca Yarros
I’m a hopeless romantic and adore all things chocolate, coffee and paleo. No, seriously, I need to have a caffeine IV put in. I’ve adored reading all my life, and writing naturally evolved from my love of romance.
I’m also a military wife. During my husband’s deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, I was devouring a romance novel a day, and during his third deployment, I finally wrote my own. With a somewhat ironic timing, I received my book deal for Full Measures during his fourth deployment, and published a month after he returned home.
On the homefront, we have six kids. Yes, you read that right—six. If I’m not writing or playing guitar, I’m usually tying hockey skates for our four boys, or sneaking in John Hughes marathons with my two daughters. We recently adopted our youngest daughter from the foster system and we’re passionate about helping others do the same!
