REVIEW: Fake Fiancée by Ilsa Madden-Mills

February 14, 2017

Get ready for breathtaking kisses and dreamy football players...

They say nothing compares to your first kiss,

But our first kiss was orchestrated for an audience.

Our second kiss…that one was REAL.

He cradled my face like he was terrified he’d f*ck it up.

He stared into my eyes until the air buzzed.

Soft and slow, full of sighs and little laughs,

He inhaled me like I was the finest Belgian chocolate,

And he'd never get another piece.

A nip of his teeth, his hand at my waist...

And I was lost.

I forgot he was paying me to be his fake fiancée.

I forgot we weren’t REAL.

Our kiss was pure magic, and before you laugh and say those kinds of kisses don’t exist…

Then you’ve never touched lips with Max Kent, the hottest quarterback in college history.

I thought I knew what to expect going into Fake Fiancée but I couldn't have been more wrong.

I was introduced to Ilsa Madden-Mills through Dirty English, a recommendation I saw in a Facebook Group. I 1-Clicked, lay on my bed in the sun and didn't move again until I'd inhaled every single word she had written. When Filthy English released I did exactly the same thing.

Then I got the chance to sign up for an early copy of Fake Fiancée which was one of my most anticipated reads of 2017. From the moment the first teaser had been released I was already in love with this exquisitely beautiful story.

Everything about Fake Fiancée was phenomenal. It was a strong heroine mixed with a hot swoon worthy and down right sexy hero with copious amounts of sexual tension and love. All the things I love in a perfect love story.

If you watch ESPN and read the local news, Max Kent sounds like your typical Hot Headed Jock. Max only cares about Football. He puts 110% into Football and everything else comes second. He's worked hard to prove himself as the first string quarter back and he want let anything get in his way. Not an ex-girlfriend, a troublesome team mate nor his father.

Every decision Max makes is with one specific future in mind which means he's not always making the right decisions for himself or the others tied into those decisions.

Max was perfect. He had me intrigued from his first words and had me swooning almost straight away. I adored him, he was the perfect amount of cocky mixed with the perfect amount of sweet. He was a good boy at heart, not your normal football player. A total mummy's boy who just when you were getting mad at something he had said or done, he said the perfect thing to take it all back.

"Sometimes in the middle of a normal day, a life-changing choice is thrown in front of you. Right then, you're one decision away from a completely different existence. You decide your future even though you aren't even aware you're doing it. Your choice might result in finding love or death or winning the f-ing lottery-You don't know."

Enter Sunny. Sunny was not your typical collage girl. She was down to earth, smart, sarcastic and stubborn. I adored Sunny, She was the type of girl that I would want to be best friends with!

Sunny has had a hard upbringing, losing someone close to her changed the whole dynamic of her family which in turn changed the direction she had planned for her life to go in. She's recently broken up with her star baseball player boyfriend, move into a house by herself and doesn't really know what she wants from her life right now. She's lost. And I could totally relate to her. I think thats what I loved about Sunny the most, was her honesty and how pure she was. She wasn't tainted by her past, just smart. She wasn't holding grudges, just keeping people away.

"I didn't understand the hows and whys of our meeting, but life isn't nearly as complicated as we make it. Sometimes there really is a bigger plan. Sometimes there really is that one person. Sometimes True Love finds you no matter what."

From the moment Sunny and Max met they has this incredibly chemistry that was an absolute joy to read. The way that Ilsa built there relationship from the beginning was writing perfection.

One of my favourite characters in Fake Fiancee was Sunny's hilarious grandmother, Mimi. She knew all the right things to say at the right time. Mimi and her relationship with Sunny touched my heart in such a special way because like Sunny, I was close to my Nana.

I LOVED Fake Fiancee, it had everything I love in a book and captivated me from the first page until the last. Ilsa  has this fantastic way of capturing your attention with a stellar first chapter and preventing you from removing your nose from the book until you've finished every word she's written. I could read Fake Fiancee over and over again and never get sick of the beautiful words wrapped up in its pages!

I can't tell you how many teasers I have saved or how many pages, paragraphs and sentences I highlighted, I might as well have highlighted the entire book! It's one of those magical books that the moment you finish it, you need to reread it immediately. You need to inhale every word. You need to posses every edition possible, eBook, Paperback, Signed paperback. Everything you can get your hands on just to ensure you aren't missing a thing!

I couldn't recommend Fake Fiancee enough to lovers of love, lovers of sports romances and lovers of strong heroines and swoon worthy boys. Buy this book. Buy it now!
