REVIEW: American Queen by Sierra Simone

"It starts with a stolen kiss under an English sky..."

It starts with a stolen kiss under an English sky, and it ends with a walk down the aisle. It starts with the President sending his best friend to woo me on his behalf, and it ends with my heart split in two. It starts with buried secrets and dangerous desires…and ends with the three of us bound together with a hateful love sharper than any barbed wire.

My name is Greer Galloway, and I serve at the pleasure of the President of the United States.

This is the story of an American Queen.

PHENOMENAL. SCANDALOUS. MIND BLOWING. FORBIDDEN.

And my gosh did I LOVE it!

From the first page of the prologue I was absolutely hooked on American Queen and could not put it down. There were so many amazing things about this incredible story that I absolutely loved! From the moment I read the blurb I knew that this story was going to be special, i just didn’t realise how special it would be!

Sierra Simone created a scandalous story with so many secrets that you weren’t really sure which way it would go. It was shocking to say the least, every time I thought  had the plot worked out it would twist and go in a completely different direction. Because of that I loved it even more. I most definitely did not expect how it ended nor did I expect any of the events that occur.

The character and story development were phenomenal. Each character developed so complexly through each chapter and as they developed the sexual tension and chemistry between each character increased tenfold. I highlighted whole chapters so i could go back and read the parts I loved the most.

“Trust without truth isn’t actually trust”

American Queen is the story of Greer Galloway and the complicated history she shares with Embry Moore and Maxen Ashley Colchester.

The entire story is written in Greer’s POV and takes you through her past and her present explaining how she meets Embry and Maxen/Ash and why she spends the majority of her life cut off from all romantic contact. Greer is incredibly intelligent and sensible. She’s grown up in an environment where everyone has a secret and ulterior motive and as a child she learned how to find these out.

Ash and Embry couldn’t have been anymore different, One is the calm and controlled president while the other is quick tempered and reckless Vice President. Best friends since Ash saved Embry’s life during the war and President and Vice President.

“Ash the brilliant tactician and Embry the reckless brawler who flung himself heedlessly into every storm of bullets he encountered … Emery treated me like a treasure he couldn’t stop himself from plundering. Ash is treating me like a jewel to be polished and then shattered and then polished. Like I’m all the more beautiful for the ways he’d like to wreck me.”

American Queen is the type of story that you need to put life on hold for. Its a steamy and forbidden page turner that you can’t stop reading until the very last word. The dynamic and passion that Sierra has created between the 3 main characters is the stuff of 5 Star Reads. You’ll either love the tension and the suspense or you’ll hate not knowing what’s going on. I absolutely loved reading American Queen and I was ecstatic to learn that Greer, Ash and Embry’s story continues in the next 2 books.

American Queen was Greer’s story, American Prince will be Embry’s and because there’s no Queen or Prince without a King, American King will be where we learn Ash’s story and how this forbidden romance will end.
